Transitioning into college life is not easy. Somewhere amidst the stranger living across the room, the sea of unknown faces lining the hall and the prospect of sharing a bathroom with twenty other people is the notion you are beginning the best four years of your life. Right now it may feel like your worst. Here is a list of do's and don'ts designed to help the transition go smoother as you switch gears into being a Spring Arbor University college student.

1.) Do go to class.
Don't sleep through class. Sound simple? It's not. Class time equals your money, and it will cost in the end if you skip.
2.) The Golden Rule: Do respect your roommate.

Don't think only about yourself. Treat your roommate how you want to be treated, and you both will enjoy a peaceful room.

3.) Do organize your time.
Don't let time escape. Harness time and use it to your advantage by organizing it. The best purchase you can make in college is a planner.

4.) Do put things into perspective.
Don't stress out or freak out. Find something to do that relaxes you. Take time for yourself.

5.) Do ask questions.
Don't be too intimidated to ask questions. It's your college career; you have a right to know.

6.) Do think ahead by setting goals.
Don't live in the moment. College goes by too fast. Prepare for next semester, next year and even graduation by setting goals.

7.) (Do) Be an opportunist.
Don't shrug off opportunities that arise. College presents opportunities you may never get again. Take advantage of these. They're designed for you.

8.) Do learn as much as you can.
Don't view learning as an obstacle. After all, you're paying to learn and to engage in the learning process; you might as well embrace it. It will be more interesting that way too.

9.) Do go to the library.
Don't be repelled by this bastion of knowledge. There are a number of resources and study places that are invaluable when you need to research or be somewhere quiet.

10.) Do spend money wisely.
Don't spend money without earning any. Following this ensures you'll have enough money when the time comes to purchase books and pay unforeseen expenses.

11.) Do get involved.
Don't be a hermit. You'll enjoy college more if you are balanced.
